Just Keep Pinning...

Most people have heard of it, but do not fully understand the importance of Pinterest. You pin, you win; it’s as simple as that. Pinterest is the fastest growing social media outlet today with over 11 million users, so we want to help you get on board with the Web’s very own visual bulletin board.

First, let’s make sure we have a good understanding of Pinterest lingo:

Pin- an image added to Pinterest. This image can be uploaded from your computer or mobile device and links back to wherever it originally came from.

Repin- a pin that someone else posted, that you repost to one of your boards. The user who originally pinned the image will get credit for you reposting it.

Like- When you like a pin instead of choosing to repin it, it is added to your “like” section rather than one of your boards.

Board- digital bulletin boards of all the images you have repinned. Boards are organized by the categories you choose.

Now, it’s time to learn how you can make your business’ Pinterest presence known. Here are some tips to make your Pinterest page successful:

  1. 1. Promote more than your own products: Make your Pinterest account interesting. Other Pinterest users want to see your company’s personality outside of the office. Try to follow the 80/20 rule; 80 percent of the time post products to promote business and 20 percent of the time post other things you or your followers find interesting.

  1. Link your Pinterest account to other social media sites: Linking your Pinterest account to your blog, Facebook page, Twitter account, etc. ensures that your account will gain a larger following and get the most views.
  1. Keep it creative: Pinterest users want to look at interesting, high quality pictures with short and to the point descriptions. Find an interesting way to promote your company’s product that will captivate your followers and leave them wanting more.
  1. Understand what your audience likes: Once your determine your audience’s habits, likes and dislikes, you can tailor your pins towards them. What kind of content interests them?
