Creative. Public Relations. Marketing.
P.S., I'm Here, Too.

This blog is dedicated to the fabulous interns that assist PR/Ad agency staff with their daily needs, whether it be making phone calls, updating social media statuses or helping them to complete a project with a tight deadline. We’re here to assist in any way we can, all while absorbing knowledge and skills of the trade. So, from one intern to the next, this is our account of life at a PR/Advertising firmthe way we see it.

I remember when I was a kid how frustrating it was trying to learn how to ride my bike without training wheels; a lot of trial and error—and a lot of crashing in the grass. That’s kind of what it felt like trying to learn Google+ for the first time except instead of having my parents there for encouragement, there was a lot of research and reading in trying to figure out exactly what it meant to have a brand page.

Like riding a bike without training wheels, I did eventually figure it out, and here’s what I’ve learned: like any social media platform, Google+ can help or hurt your brand. If you want people to notice you, make a scene and engage (it gets people talking and sharing your page). I’m still figuring out this whole hangout and “circle” business (but they seem to be the equivalent of middle school cliques.) So if anyone understands those, let a girl know!

I really liked that Google+ allowed you to hyperlink your other social media pages to your Google+ page; kind of like the Target of social media: one stop shopping for all your basic needs. And now that I mostly understand what’s happening on Google+, maybe I will even make a profile of my very own. For now though, I’m sticking with managing our J.O. Google+ page. (Join our circle!)

By the way, after figuring out the whole process of Google+, I read this last night and found it extremely interesting. Mashable Business noted the best of the best brand pages on Google+. Perhaps we can all learn something from them.
