Are You Sitting Too Much?

We all do it: we come in for the day, sit down at our desks, work for hours on-end, mayybeee take a short lunch, then it’s back in the desk chair for more of the same.

Then we go home, come back the next day and do it all over again.

Sure, we’re being productive . . . but as we learned from an article in Businessweek, it turns out all that sitting isn’t so great for you.

Our very own Jennifer Henderson realized this several years ago and, to combat “sitting fatigue”, began encouraging co-workers to take “hopscotch breaks” a few times each day in order to stretch out everyone’s legs, both physically and creatively.

Even if hopscotch isn’t your thing, a quick break to walk outside for a few minutes every couple of hours might do you well. Check it out.

Perhaps the folks taking smoke breaks have the right idea. Without the smoking part.
